Propolis

Propolis is a multifunctional material used by bees in the construction and maintenance of their hives. Bees make propolis by gathering resin from pine and other cone-producing evergreen trees. They blend the resin with wax flakes and pollen, and take it back to the hive. There they use the sticky mess to patch holes, seal cracks and build panels in the hive.

But propolis does more than architectural duty. It also acts as an antiseptic barrier protecting the hive from contamination and from external invaders like mice, snakes, and lizards. In fact, the name propolis comes from the Greek meaning "defense of the city."

People began using propolis more than 2,300 years ago for many purposes. In the last several decades, health practitioners have found even more positive uses for propolis as a natural supplement. It contains as many as 300 active compounds and is rich in amino acids, bioflavonoids, minerals and vitamins. Safety studies have found it to be essentially nontoxic when taken orally; propolis also appears to be nonirritating when applied to the skin.

Dalong Biotech provides propolis with extremely high flavonoids. Flavonoids are beneficial for physical constitution regulation and health maintenance. Due to their significant physiological activities, flavonoids can be responsible for a large part of propolis activity. In our propolis, a great portion of the flavonoids is quercetin, a target compound of propolis. It accounts for a high concentration.
